FAQ
Instagram top nine: FAQ
The questions that come back every December, answered without padding.
Is the Instagram top nine official?
No. Instagram does not build it; the ritual comes from third-party tools and hand-made collages.
How are the nine chosen?
By ranking published posts on one metric — likes, saves or comments — counted when you build the card.
Why is mine different from a friend's?
Different metric, different window, or a different selection method (ranking vs camera roll). The format is identical; the ranking is not.
Can I do it with a personal account?
You can use the design tools, but Instagram does not expose per-post counters for personal accounts, so automatic ranking is not possible.
What size should I export?
1080 × 1920 for a Story, 1080 × 1350 for the feed. Tiles are 3:4 with a three-pixel gap.
Does it post automatically?
No. Any honest tool exports an image; you publish it yourself.
Is it official?
No, it is a community ritual.
How are the nine ranked?
On one metric: likes, saves or comments.
What size?
1080x1920 Story, 1080x1350 feed.
Does it post for me?
No.
