Instagram Features explained: 90-minute videos
Instagram is no longer a short-video platform only. Here is what Features is, what Instagram is offering creators, and what it changes for the recap you publish in December.
What Instagram announced
Instagram introduced Features, a long-form video format with videos of up to 90 minutes, alongside Series — reported by Yahoo Tech and Gadgets Now. The move puts Instagram in direct competition with YouTube on long-form video.

What Instagram is offering creators
According to The Next Web, Instagram has offered some creators deals worth up to $500,000 to cross-post their long videos. That is a recruitment strategy aimed at established YouTube channels, not at small accounts.
What it changes for Reels and for recaps
Reels remain the reach layer; Features adds a place for length. For a December recap, nothing changes structurally: the 3x3 grid still comes from your published posts. But if you publish long video, Features gives that content a profile home, and the recap can then reference it.
How to react without chasing every launch
Most launches do not change what you publish. The test is simple: does this format let you document the year better? If yes, use it once and see. If not, keep the rhythm you have.
Does Features replace Reels?
No. Reels remain the short-form reach format; Features is an additional long-form surface.
